What is Dry Eye?
Dry Eye, or ocular surface disease, is a condition that effects the surface of the eye due to a lack of lubrication. This lack of lubrications could be due to either an underproduction or overproduction of tears. When the eye cannot produce tears or is rapidly producing tears due to a lack of oil in the lipid layer, the surface of the eye is exposed and will become irritated.

Is it Allergies or Dry Eye?
While allergies can lead to dry eye symptoms, chronic dry eye is an actual condition. If you experience dry, itchy or tired eyes during seasonal changes or when faced with pollen or debris, it is likely that it is simply an allergy symptom that can be relieved with over-the-counter drops or allergy medication.
When symptoms are prolonged and non-prescribed medications are not relieving your pain, it may be due to chronic dry eye. Dry Eye is not a curable condition, but is treatable.
